    Replacing Exhaust - What to get? (pics)

    Again, being that my Rover is a hybrid, I never know exactly what to ask...but I'm getting better.

    Here are some pics of the current exhaust setup. (Yes there is a bent tie rod, leaky pumpkin, leaking brake drum, leaky oil pan gasket, exhaust leaks....whats a rover without leaks?).

    Can anyone tell me if this is a stock exhaust setup from a Defender or a Series or neither? I want the exahust to exit out the side so I can put the rear mud flaps on but I have no idea what to buy as far as exhaust components are concerned. I'm going to remove the custom header as it has a leak as well so figured since I'm going to do that, might as well replace everything else.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Nick

    I dont think any of that is stock.

    My friend has a 2a built on a Designa coil chassis. He also has the defender 2.5 motor in it. He used the series NRP exhaust from RN. It fit OK except for the exhaust manifold..the flange was different and had to be modified to fit.

    If I were you, Id have a custom SS exhaust made.

        Thanks for the link. I imagine a SS custom exhaust wouldn't come cheap. I'll look around town and see who I can find that does custom exhausts. I figured the whole system was custom anyway. Everything else on the rig seems to be. Thanks again.

          It doesn't look stock to me. Someone's also swapped out the proper leaf springs for coils!

          I just bought a complete exhaust for my SIII. Each of the three pieces was about $35. Much easier to work with new, non-rusted parts. I bought the RHD muffler which is not correct for a NA vehicle, but it is correct for someone cheap, like me.

            Some of the hangers are D-90 stuff. The rest of it is what it is.

              Just take it to your local muffler shop that does custom work. Usually cheaper and will fit properly.

                i took mine to a local shop. he fixed the tap i broke off in one of the three manifold flange stud holes, put in a 2" less restrictive flow pipe and muffler that is some sort of aluminum annodized steel a bunch of new hangers and just before he made the last cut i stopped him and had a couple more bends put in and now my tail pipe ends right next to my left tail lights. cost $250

                  I'm late in the game here, but hopefully I can help.

                  X2,X3,X4 or however many on the local muffler shop.

                  I've had a few custom exhausts bent up at local shops. Including mufflers (but not cat converters) its never cost me more than $300. The last time I had one made, it was for a full size jeep cherokee that I converted to a chevy 383 stroker (a lot longer than your rover). I paid $275 plus tax, out the door, for a complete dual exhaust plus two flow masters. Find a locally owned shop (It'll be cheaper than Midas or some other chain).

                  Yes I realize many of you are about to chastise me for excluding the converters.
