Looks like the Uber rare Tropical Top PU! Similar to the full llength trop top.

I'd love to have one of those

      apology for the hijack...

      From the ad:

...and has 2 highly desirable factory options: the safari roof, & 2 speed fairey overdrive.

Very nice looking truck. I'd actually like to have any truck cab if anyone is looking to get rid of one...

*showing my ignorance here but* does the safari top act as one big vent? small outlets on the interior celling that draw out hot air via the suction of the cold air passing under the secondary top?

No--The vents open into the airflow. Not really a huge blast of air, but something's better than nothing.

                A) the four vents in a normal trop top face forward, so, at speed, you should receive a bit of a 'ram air' effect from air being channeled under under the sunshield

                B) It helps keep out direct rain infiltration while having the vents open

                C) the sunshield acts as a second skin: even sitting still, it 'provides a bit of shade' for the underlying roof, helps keep the vehicle a little bit cooler

                    Hey Leslie,
I'm in Cleveland (past Knoxville near Chattanooga) and I remember that rover at the Knoxville dealership. It was beautiful! I have not seen it in a few years...do you know what happened to it?

On a side note: Are you heading to URE?

It's been awhile, but they may have ebay'd it, if I correctly remember.

At ETSU, my daughter's roommate is from Cleveland... and the roommate's twin sister is in the next dorm room.

I used to go to the Uwharrie Safari every spring and MAR every fall, but, I've not been to either the past few years. Been mullin' over goin' to something soon.... just might have to mosey over to the URE..... I dunno, we'll see....

Sorry to hijack, but I see that there's a pretty good east Tennessee Contingent on this forum. I'm from Chattanooga, but am currently at Clemson for school. I'm seriously debating heading up to the URE this fall, if the rover is feeling well enough to make the trip.

Yeah, I might be hijacking it as well...
I know that me and Steven (the guy with the Zebra Disco) will be there.
You guys should head on over there!

But to post something about the top. Bill at TNTLR might still have some of these tops. I know that he has a lot of things stuck around the place.

I called about a year after - he'd sold them all - but he may have stumbled on some more.
