The earlier thread on this subject has prompted to me to move a rollbar further up on my wishlist. Does anyone have any good suggestions or photos for a proper rollbar or cage for either the interior or exterior? On the exterior I'd like to do something similar to a 110 Defender and incorporate a roof rack. I could also do an interior bar but I think I'd prefer to do the exterior bars. Anyone know of a source? Any photos out there? Thanks.

My 109 has an internal cage fabricated by Jim Hall for a previous owner. It's attached to the frame in six places, and really bulletproof. The bar across the dashboard is a little awkward, but confidence-inspiring. There are some handy grab handles near the windshield. Retractable seat belts are attached to the lower cross-tube behind the front seats, and shoulder belts are attached to the door posts. The stock cross-brace behind the front seats is attached to the cage. I'm thinking of moving it back a bit for more seat travel.
I've never removed the roof, but I could stretch a top over the bar and run it as a soft top in the summer if I wanted to.
I'd be curious to see how external roll cages hold up in an accident/rollover. They do add rigidity to the body, but it's a compromise. Haven't seen any pictures of D 90-110 accidents.Chris

109 on Ebay with external/internal roll cage
Here are a couple photos of a 109 that is currently on Ebay with an external/internal cage---don't know the truck personally. But it appears to use a D90 front external cage and then switch to an internal cage. Hope the photos are helpful--there are a few more on ebay.
