Is the spacing around your doors fairly even. I lined up the top of the door(galvanized piece) with the top of the box and I still have uneven spacing on the front of the doors.
No painting the fasteners or hinges for me. Also not painting the front bumper, front/rear bumperettes, windshield frame, galv. body trim, grille, badges, hubs, etc. I kind of like the contrast, even though it's not military 'correct'.

My door spacing is excellent, but I spent a lot of time on panel alignment to get it that way. It was a big juggling act between the rear tub, bulkhead, and door position.

I love your work and attention to detail. Very nice restore.. I am sort of biased for the Desert Storm theme being a D/S vet.

Little more history....hope you don't mind. The inverted V was applied to most coalition vehicles prior to the invasion because a couple of tragic friendly fire, aka blue on blue, incidents that happened during the the air campaign.....alot of the vehicles also ran safety orange fabric panels on the hoods or roofs to help i.d. them as friendly . Glint tape aka Spectre tape was issued to us to be applied to or Helmets or flight suits to help i.d. friendly personel ..but it is only good for I.R. capable platforms, and not everyone had the Spectre cloth issued to them.

By the way.. several Brits were among those who were killed by a U.S. aircrraft.

          Regards

So, so you think its OK to put incorrect insignia on a vehicle that was not part of Desert Storm?

Les - I see that you are here to bother me after not getting any responses to the thread you started on the subject.

So, I say sure, why not. It's my vehicle and I can certainly do what I want with it. I don't have the military history on the vehicle, so I can't say where it's been. Consider it a "tribute" vehicle.

If you don't like what I've done, I suggest that you go back to your own thread regarding the subject so you can pontificate all you want about it. Just please stop sending me PMs about how you don't like it.

I have followed this thread since day one and have thoroughly enjoyed it until now. Although I am probably sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong I sense that there is some sort of baggage between you two which IMHO doesn't need to be or shouldn't be posted here. I personally have a great respect for both of you so please go back to your corners and call the sparing contest a draw.

                    Les-
It’s a real shame to see an employee of Rovers North and a forum ‘Super Moderator’ feel as though they have to harass a contributing member of the forum (in their own thread and after already sending multiple PMs and starting their own thread on the subject) and start name-calling.

You have an opinion on “signage”. Good for you. As I stated before, if you wish to discuss this topic, please do so in the thread that you started yesterday on this topic. It is a great topic for discussion, but this thread is not the place for it. Seriously. I don’t think this is an unreasonable request.

If we all worry too much about what others are doing then we are no better than the folks who tell us that we shouldn't drive our old gas guzzling trucks.

                        Jeff,

Well, I am disappointed to say the least.
As has been said on this and many other forums, its your vehicle and you are certainly entitled to put whatever you feel is appropriate on it.
I have no bitterness or axe to grind.
I do feel, after being a member of H.M. Forces that what is right is right.
If the members of this forum are in favour of emblazoning the incorrect insignia on a vehicle, then so be it.
I leave this decision to the person(s) own morals.
To me, that is the end of the subject and I will comment no further.
This is a personal (to me) opinion and should not reflect on Rovers North in any way.

                            Almost Done!

I had a chance last week to paint my brand new Dutch Military fuel tanks with Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black.
                            The tanks are now installed:

I also installed a new Roverdrive transfer case cover:

All I have to do now is sign the insurance paperwork with Hagerty and get it registered (assuming the new fuel tanks don't leak).

I had to take a few pics for the insurance company. Here are a few:

I noticed you went with black for the caps. Is that correct or a personal preference? I've seen them in red too.
