    S 3 door hinge

How can I tell if the door hinges on my S 3 (build date 3-72) are the type that can be fitted with side mirrors? I really can't tell from the catalog diagrams. My hinge bolts are counter-sunk about 1/2 inch into the hinge, does the mirror fit into these? There are no other holes for mounting.

I have two holes on the wings where mirrors would fit perfectly so possiblly the PO changed hinges?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob.
For the Defender style hinge mount, the top hinge needs to have 2 pre-drilled holes for the screws to pass through the hinge to hold the mirror arm to the hinge.

    Hope this helps

ok, so that is in addition to the four holes attaching the hinge to the door & bulkhead. Want to order the correct ones (next paycheck!)

Any questions, pse let me know.
Do you need the Defender door mirrors also?

If so, :- RNK851L for LH and RNK851R for RH.

So I'm cheap ..... Anyway, I simply drilled 2 holes in the hinges on my Series III for the D-90 style mirrors. Had them on there for a few years and no problems so far.

My 72 S3 came with side door mirrors that are attached by another bracket. It goes sandwiched between the S3 door side hinge a the door. It uses the same bolt holes as the door.
My wings also have the holes for the wing mirrors. They have plastic plugs on them. These might be left over spare S2A wings that early S3's came with.
