    stage 1 1982 vs. series 3

new to the land rover lifestyle. Was interested in a series 2a or 3 but came across a 1982 stage 1 5 dr. v8 in good condition. What are the main differences between the series and the stage 1. Is the stage 1 a good vehicle. Is it lost between the series and defenders or does it stand on its own reputation. I have not seen that many posts concerning the stage 1. Any thing that should be looked for or any problems with this model. Thanks for any detaails that are fowarded to me.

They are nice but somewhat uncommon here- that is why you don't hear much about them- each one here ad to be personally imported because they were made while Land Rover was not in the North American market. They are full time 4wd unlike the Series trucks which are part time. they have a 3.5l v8 which isn't a powerhouse but is much more capable of attaining and maintaining decent road speeds than a 2.25 4 cylinder.
