compression #'s on a 2.25l

    compression #'s on a 2.25l

    nothing wrong with the engine, just never checked compression. how do these numbers sound?? and its a 7 to 1 head

    i now found in a book that it should be 145lbs. with the engine hot on a 7 to 1 head

      It's a bit low, and the discrepancy on #3 means it might be harder to get a smooth idle, but that's all. You'll be down on power a bit.

        145 for compression sounds high but it could be. I thought that it was like 130. It should be fine to run it on that, just like jeff said you may have a lack of power and trouble with a smooth idle.

          Remeber that a lot of gauges are not really very accurate so the actual number is less important than the relationship between the values. I tend to run the test 3 times on each cylinder and average the results as this tends to eliminate experimental error.

          Also make sure you are running the test properly as a lot of people forget the best practices. I know its been detailed here before so search is your friend.
