Shipping 109 again

As I mentioned on a previous thread I need to ship a 109 from Seattle to Reno. I tried both Bullseye and Monster trucking and they both are out of business. Any other ideas??????

I just googled car movers and went to one of the sites that popped up that offered to give you 10 or so quotes from different moving companies. that is how I got started when I moved my truck.

If you're in Seattle give Matson a call, they do Interstate as well as transoceanic. I shipped from Seattle to Honolulu for about $1000.

I used Phoenix when I did mine. They are a broker and find a driving company for you. They sub'd it out to a trucking company that was something like Mike??? and some short Irish last name. They had a shamrock on their logo. My truck arrived safe n sound in about a weeks time. Cincy, OH to STL, MO for just under $500. $100 for the broker as deposit and $400 to the trucking company at the time of delivery.

Overall, I had a good experience with them both.

Buy a plane ticket and rent a U-haul. It'll probably be the same or cheaper than any shipper's quote, since it's a relatively short haul.

Get a one way ticket and drive it. One of the best road trips I ever had.

If you must ship it, I've found that it is cheaper to ship between major cities instead of door to door. If that is an option, you should mention it to your shipper/broker.

I was all set to do that when I bought my 109. Got all the maps for a blue highway trip from upstate New York to California, got the plane reservation. It was a blustery April...

...then the PO did everything he could to talk me out of it...which turned out to be a good thing. When it arrived by truck, it turned out the brakes were shot, the lights and wipers didn't work, etc. Would have made it about five miles.

I agree with Dan, I used such a web sight, a multi broker-locater?- had great results. Downside you'll get 15 phonecalls in the first hour, maybe twenty E-m's. Prices ranged from 600 to 350 for a 350 mile haul. Went with one of about seven companies qouting 350-ish, bonded ect..had no trouble. Same deal 100 credit card deposit to the broker-250 to the trucker on delivery.

Be careful-got Two qoutes for 250 with a 250 deposit...was forewarned of scammers. They take the money and never find a trucking co. willing to take your haul at the qouted price...so no show.
