    Best Performing Carb?

What would be the best carb for a 9:1 head? I am looking to put a 9:1 performance head on for better power, but didn't know if I should keep my Zeinth carb.

I have a Turner Engineering head with oversized intake/exhaust valves & mild grind off of the stock cam. Currently using the Weber 32/34 DMTL carb and its fantastic.

You are gaining compression with the 9:1 head but not flow. Your existing carb should be fine but may need rejetted depending on what else you've done.

The best performing carb I've ever had was the SU carb as fitted with the ACR performance package. I never idled smooth but boy did it pack a wallop... for a rover.

It should be noted that the header was modified for the carb and there were other goodies like a twisted cam. So this may be out of your range. Check the ACR website for prices. http://www.automotivecomp.com

Another thing to note. The above power plus kit only got about 10 miles per gallon. My Weber 34ICH with a standard set up gets around 18 if I'm good. Performance is as you'd expect

          carb

I too have a acr SU carb set up with a performance plus 2.5 (2.8) My milage has always been good..If I behave when I drive. the best I've ever gotten was 310 miles from full tank to running dry..Typically between 250 and 275 miles per tank (12.5 gallons) this is a vast improvement over my old rodchester..witch was 12 to 17 mpg..Bobzinak

I run a bog standard rebuilt 2.25 w/7:1 head and Pertronix in the distributor and Zenith carb. I have no overdrive and I can get 24mpg on the hwy.

              Imperial or US?

Also, what is your definition of highway or highway speed? :-)

I run around 60 mph on the highway, when topography allows of course. Just a tad under the 100km/hr posted limit here (checked with GPS) and 24mpg Imperial and 20mpg US lite gallons. I'm talking winding Canuck highway here.

20 on US is still pretty damn good!

                    I agree.

Out of curiosity gudjeon, what tires are you running?
