Inertia Reel Seatbelts in 109 Wagon??

I need to install inertia reel belts for the rear seat of my 1960 109 wagon.

Since the truck is a Series II it's never had these belts. So I know I need to drill some holes, but I don't have a parts book that shows the proper placement.

Also, the mounting location for the reel bracket is a mystery.
The bracket for the front seat belt reel is totally different. I'm including pics of where I think the brackets need to go... but if other SW owners out there have done this upgrade, I really need your pics.

I am curently looking at doing this to my NADA 109. My understanding is that:
Picture 1. That bracket goes inside the wheel arch (i.e. on the other side of the sheetmetal that you have it resting on.) in roughly the location you show.

Picture 2. That bracket is correct.

Picture 3. Never seen one that looks like that. I expect to use the Exmoor inertia reels. These have a small 90° bracket that mounts the reel to the mounting bolt for the rear body side that is almost directly below the bracket you show in picture 2. This is how it is done on my 88 but you'll need to make sure it will clear the seat back on the SW.

The third point is anchored through the floor plate and uses a spreader plate below the floor. I'd look at pictures of a 110 for the exact location but I have heard that this anchor bolt goes through the fore and aft stiffener ribs under the rear floor.

THat's roughly my plan for now.

It fits nowhere I can find, even on my 109 pickup.

You're right about the wagon rear seat. The seat back angle would foul the belt if the reel isn't mounted just right. I'm thinking it needs a 90 deg bracket mounted to the rear floor with spreader plate beneath, as you said.

I will check the Exmoor site for the bracket you mentioned, but it may be easier/quicker to fab one. That sucks, becaue these brackets were no cheap. Maybe someone else had tread this path before. Anyone?

With two kids, having the inertia belts will be a big plus. In fact I bought the wagon for that very reason. The pickup will only carry the whole family in third world nations or states without seatbelt laws.

Here is a picture of the belts in my 88. If you can find a set I'd recomend this type of mounting. The tab that mounts to the vertical tab of the roof side bracket is part of the inertia reel. It tucks right in against the roof side so doesn't interfere with the seat back. It may require a bit of trimming of the trim piece if you have one in that location.

I'm in the sam eposition as you in that I am building a 109 SW as a family vehicle. My wife doesn't think the 101 or 88 will do the job. I am fitting inertia reels front and rear and using BEstop high back jeep seats front and rear for the safest useable seating for the wee ones. Of course, she's getting a bunch of other mods to help things too.

Hmmmm every time I take a photograph of my ruck it makes me realise I need to clean it.

Momo - below are some photos of how I installed inertia belts for the middle seat in my '62 109. The upper brackets are for a 110 and incorporate the reel mount. They needed some extra holes drilled in them to fit, but other than that they work fine. The lower mounts are the same ones you have, but they are supposed to mount underneath the vehicle. The belts themselves are all Rover items. I chose the clip-on version for the buckle so they are easily removed if I want to fold up the seat and have the back empty.

The belts themselves are all Rover items. I chose the clip-on version for the buckle so they are easily removed if I want to fold up the seat and have the back empty.
