88 Rear Cross member Question ?

What are the 3 pads on the bottom of the rear most cross member used for?

My Galv chassis and my original chassis have them, but I don't recall anything mounted to them?

    Thanks.. Talbot

Some of the accessories used them to mount to the back of the vehicle (things driven off of the rear PTO). Look at old pictures of Rovers being used as farm equipment, etc., you can see things bolted up to the underside of the crossmember by those....

If they are the 3 squares with holes in them, they are for the rear foot step. The holes should be threaded(however you will probably need to run a tap through them)

Yes the three square blocks. I've never had the fixed rear foot step assuming that is what you mean.. . But I do have a folding one to rebuild ..Thanks to all for the info..

The 3 blocks are tapped I assume. Mine are all filled w/ zinc.
Does anyone know what the tapped hole size is? 1/4-28? 5/16 -24? or do I need to drill and tap to my own size?

            ...Thanks..
