    Suffix A transmisson

Can anyone tell me what year/s and model/s the suffix A transmissions were used. Also any issues with them? Thanks

Not positive on the years but I think the Suff A was SI or early SII? No matter what the year it goes to just remember, the earlier the suffix the more parts are going to be NLA. The later boxes have more improvements and are usually considered stronger.

There are 2 Suffix "A" transmissions.
The early IIa's (1959-60) and the early Series III (1972-74)
IIa's synchro on 3/4th and Series III fully synchro.
In time, both were replaced with modifications that made life a little better but more confusing as far as replacement parts are concerned.

Hope this clarifies the mud a little.
