A Pink Panther would be on the short list, but so would a Tickford. A '48 pre-pro is a good thought too. Or, how about the actual 'Antichrist' SI from the Gods Must Be Crazy?
My stage 1 is good, but it would be great if it was sitting on a galvinised frame, disc brakes, still with its 4 doors but along with a full canvas roof and roll cage (much like some of the beach runner 110's ECR has been making.)
And for my 88, a 200 tdi, some parabolics, and volvo c303 axles and i'd be a happy guy. If i still had room in my garage, then i wouldn't mind trundling around town in a cuthbertson.
I would take a 130 crew cab with a 2.8 international that was tuned up enough to pull my other choice, a defender 110 hi-capacity pickup with 4:1 t-case gears, a 2.8 international and portak tek axles.
I'm with everyone else who said 'a running rig' - I'd be thrilled if Santa could bring me the skill set overnight that I'm working to develop over time, through bloody knuckles and trial and error but in reality thats the fun, right?
If were offered another rover, then it would be a tough call between an 1980's county 110 or a 1990's county Rangie
