    hi
my 73 series with a 2a 2.25 petrol engine is giving me some trouble
i havent ive basically put the whole truck together from nothing
    so ive gone through everything
new pump lines cleaned out tank rebuilt solex carb no air leaksb=]
new points cap wires rotor plugs ect distributor cleaned no wobble
engine starts fine and will idle as smoothly as possable for a series
i can even go up and down the driveway with no problem
when i pull out to road and try to go at road speed it sputters and dies
wont restart until it cools off.
any body ever hear of any temp problems with solex carbs
ive heard of vapor lock with mgs.
truck runs totally within normal limits
    thanks

Sounds like vapor lock. I have seen people take wooden clothes pins and attach them to the fuel line as this will help disipate the heat that is causing the vapor lock. Attach about four cloths pins and see if that fixes it. If not, add some more until it stops giving you problems. Let me know how it works out.

Doesn't sound like it got hot enough to have a vapor lock issue. Did you have the distributor rebuilt? Did you put in a new condensor? I have had a lot of issues with the new condensors being supplied, and have experienced a nearly identical issue to yours with a new condensor being the cause of the problem.

Sounds more like fuel starvation. Check the screen at the output of the fuel pump and replace any post pump or pre pump fuel filters.

          sputter and die

I agree with 'Bertha' on this one....condenser. Try another, they're easy to come by, and cheap. Common MO for this disorder.
