Nothing here, either. I can't see how the guy expects a price when you can't even find out how difficult it is to access them. Too many flakes on craigslist, imho.

that's quite a collection on Craigslist!

Even better that the ad says they're not in very good condition - that usually means cheap

I know there are a ton of scams on craiglist, but they usually are for more mainstream items. If anyone has any luck with this seller, I'd be interested in going in on it ( the last thing I need is 4 rusting rovers!)

After some checking, the seller(?) seems very suspect.

Well, if you ever DO get a response....

One of this easiest techniques is to do an ip check. In the email responses from him, check for an xsource ip address. It will probably be at the bottom of the email trail (you'll have to select full source headers).

If the ip is not local, you've got your likely answer.

Sold a car on Craigslist 3 months ago. Got a TON of interest. "I want to come by this weekend" etc. The "local" buyers were from: Mexico, Chile, Ukraine, and California. Ended up selling it to a guy in my own town, so no harm.

My guess is this guy is legit. Seems too far fetched to set such an odd ball ad for something in poor condition that 1 out of 100 people are in to. But if you want to know for sure try the above.

I have a feeling it's someone who doesn't actually own these vehicles and is fishing for interest and info.
Btw, an ip check is ok but it can be misleading since they can be a proxy. And of course, you have to get a response. On craigslist it can be more useful to look at the actual email address ( name).

Oh man, I hope you're wrong. Because that is beyond cruel....

By the way, here is a local Craigslist ad I'm posting today.

I left out on June 21st for the longest weekend trip of my life. Upon arriving, we talked to the owner who had only recently gotten into Rovers and had purchased "several" from someone who wanted to get out of the hobby. The seller, Dan, was driving a well worn military 109 pickup (I can post photos if you'd like to see it). We followed him for about 20 miles into the country to retrieve the 88. We came to a plain metal building, and this is what was inside.

                                This one was mine.

If you were counting, there were 6 Land Rovers in there and 1 Sankey trailer.

After loading up, he asked if I was going to be needing any parts. Yes.
We then drove another 40 miles across town to a small wooden barn/loft. Apparently, he had acquired all of these parts along with the Rovers. This place was a time warp. On the lower floor were Series I and II engines and transmissions, axle assemblies, bulkheads, bumpers, and various other bulky parts. On the second floor was the mother load. Brand new Series I and II light assemblies, turn signal indicators, exhaust manifolds, and complete exhausts, no fewer than 10 bonnets, wings, complete doors (and 4 station wagon rear doors), several Fairey overdrives, brand new brake drums, emergency brake levers, steering wheels, clutches, and a thousand other things. If I had had more money, I would have left with much more. As it was, I got a deluxe bonnet, a spare transmission, some rear lights, a turn signal indicator, a gorgeous set of Santana headlights and trim rings (currently on my NADA), and a few other bits and pieces.

Here is a bad shot of the lower floor.

                                And the upper.

If I hadn't been so absolutely blown away by the place, I would have taken better photos.

The guy had no idea what he had.

You still have the number for that guy... I need some parts!
