There is a rover graveyard near my place in East Farnham, Quebec.
Old Mr. Foisy is convinced that a rotten 109 with a seized engine and rusted out chassis is worth 25 grand. He asked me how much I payed for my D90 and didnt believe me when I said 10 grand. He said ’’Those are worth at least $30 000!’’ There are at least 20 Series II carcasses in his yard, nothing you could even winch onto a flatbed in one piece!

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this:

While on a ski trip to Colorado in February I spotted this rover rusting away under the snow. After a quick discussion with my wife we decided to turn around a go back to see if the owner would be willing to part with it. After knocking on the door to the house I was greeted by an unkept man with little or no apparent education. When I asked if the rover was for sale he shook his head a said no but he had an old willys truck for sale and pointed to another pile of snow out by the road. I explained to him that I was only interested in the rover and that I had $1000 cash if he would be willing to change his mind. I thought it was a fair starting point since I couldn't even see the front half of the vehicle because of the snow. With a toothless grin he began to laugh and proceed to explain that I was crazy and that he had looked online and that truck was worth $30,000. I said oh! Is it a series I or II, this is where it gets even funnier, he said he didn't know because it came with the property. I just shook my head and walked back to our Jeep all the while him standing there laughing and saying $1000 yeah right. If it were completely restored to better than new condition and truly worth $30,000, what in the world is it doing in his front yard under 4' of snow, and why is he driving an old 80's model van in the middle of winter when he could be trekking through the snow in his $30,000 rover?

Any way this began the search for our current project a 1959 Series II which I will post Pic's of in another thread.

Wow...I paid 500$ for my 73 88" 3 series...And its running. Ordered a new galvanised chassis for it but it runs...

Have you ever done some buisness with the guy in Lennoxville? Asked him for stuff in the past and he never called me back. Maybe he thought I was not serious? So I bought 4000$ of parts elsewhere...

SII and SIII found in Alabama

I found these two rovers that had been sitting for many years. The SII is pretty rough but does not seem to have any frame or bulk head rust. The SIII is better but has been un used for 20+ years. I dragged the SIII home and hope to do a resto on it this summer. For company they had several Studabakers, MG's, and an assortment of other classics most of which have been sitting in the weather long enough for trees to grow around them.

Yellow - 2 or 2a between Donnelly (IIRC) and McCall Idaho. From the highway the front looked pretty stripped.

Blue and Black - 2 or 2a - Off exit 90 Mountain Home, Idaho. Looked largely complete.

not sure if this violates any forum rules but I spotted this one on Craigslist down in NH. It is listed as a bugeye and they want $2500 for it. The ad: http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1771268232.html

                        Junk Yard parts

Well. For any of you that travel on 101 through marlboro NH , you might remember an old Rover junk yard with about 30 wrecks out back. I guess the old geezer died and the new owner sold off the back 40. I have what was left. Some one took all the non rotted parts and put them on a new galvi chassis ... no new paint though. It sits presently in my barn, 4 colours but with a new radiator, 5 new 15 inch rims from gulf coast, new rubber all around, almost had rock sliders but they are buggered from factory...

Whence came you my brother ? From the East....

Just drove by Cheshire Foreign Auto last week. My son says he spotted a Rover there as were driving past. One of the members here bought a substantial amount of the stuff that was lying around out in back of CFA a few years back. Are you running the multi-color rover you describe above?

                            Hodge podge

Yup. slowly sorting out the issues..... like, hmmm the 25 lugs nut bought for my series 3 , to go on my "series 3" are too large.... Hmmm lug bolts are kinda small...... what do you know? I have a series 2a set of axles... completely different lug bolt... Now attempting to decipher the tranny,,,, series 2/2a or full syncro series 3..
The paint is more of a rattle can camo at the moment. I think a flat black will prevail. Also the new rims from gulf coast (15") are chrome... The american racing stuff they carry is back ordered in black. PLENTY of chrome at half off ...35 quid each who can say no?
Just have to paint them before anybody sees it.
Chrome on a series? I'd get laughed at. The poor girl is way to classy for bling.

Flat black paint and chrome wheels. When the time comes, you've got to snap a picture of that before you cover over the chrome!
