Finished intalling my Gen-u-ine LR rear leaf springs and new shocks all around...big improvement, no longer looking like a low-rider in the back. Could I be nearing the completion of my "rolling restoration"???

I washed it too, with beer in one hand.

Got my switches in and got'em installed. All original switches... I'm just all aglow.

I ordered so much stuff from Rovers North this weekend that it will keep me busy for a while.

When we remodeled the house we used to say "that should only take an hour at most..." three days later we'd be done. It became a running joke. Long story short, I don't ever think that my rover will be done

            Kudos on the new shocks!

I angered the Rover Gods! On the way home from work I sputtered and dies...smelled fuel real strong, fuel filter almost empty. Climbed under the truck and found my newer fuel line was incorrectly routed (by me, duh!) and rubbed a small "weeping hole" in the line, allowing air in the line. Amazingly, months ago I threw some extra fule line in the tool box under the seat so a quick fix and I was back on the road again. I will never again be so foolish as to think I will ever be done with this truck. That's a good thing....right?

Picked up most of the pieces to a hoopset for the rover, (thanks Jim) and removed the doortops to discover the passenger side door top is shot. Ahhh yet another thing to fix.

I spent some time on both my rovers this last weekend. One is going down the road to a new owner next week so I finshed a few very minor tidying up items, installed the second back seat and started getting ready to install the defender mirror I've had for it.
On my new to me truck I removed the floors, tunnel cover and bulkhead cowling. The truck does not always downshift well from 3rd to 2nd, kind of gets stuck. The PO said it was due to a worn shifter ball. I pulled the shifter and it is in real bad shape. Ordered a new shifter lever, should have it by weekend to see if this fixes the problem. If you think a rovers heat is poor try driving one around without the tunnel cover in the rain, fun!

Finished up my quasi repair of the starter. Its still only engaging about 60% of the time, but thats a big improvement. I dont feel like I'd be stranded driving it around town...well, any more than usual.

On our test ride I noticed that the new rear shocks made a huge difference. Its like taking a small jet through a thunderstorm rather than a cessna 172... This was the first time driving it since swapping tops and I'd forgotten how much worse it tracks when I move the spare off the rear door to behind the bulkhead...really hard to keep it in a straight line. Maybe it will get better when I replace the front shocks?

I've still got some idle and dieseling issues and its clear that the starter is on its way to needing a new gear asap... but there's progress none the less.

The best part about our ride tonight was our newest passenger - meet Ippa! We got her this week from the SPCA

well i goes by da autozone and picks up a cheap fuel filter. i've two on mine, a nice one just before the weber and the cheapy between the tanks and the electric pump. of course some of the lines were 5/16 and some 1/4" and all looking kind of bad. so i'm replacing the line between the filter and pump and the line between the tank selector valve and the filter with some new 1/4" i have around and the fitting going into the pump is 5/16". i try but just can't get the hose on so back to autozone, no luck, so off to pep boys, they have the fitting. everything tightened up, test drive confirms the need for a filter and now i'm enjoying my beer

The adventure of the broken tranny brake continues. The output flange seal must have been original or 20 years old. It looked nothing like the replacement, had metal sides, and what looked to be leather inside. I could not remove w/out taking the spedometer drive case off -and pounding it out from inside.

                            New seal on..looks better.

Re-plumbed the tank that I put in last weekend, replaced the e-pump,replaced the fuel filter, attempted to install my reconditioned seat brackets (please see my other thread and give me some advise) and finally fired her up and drove her around the neighborhood to check for leaks, etc.

what i did to my rover today

incase you didnt hear i broke a frame horn out on the trails.
limped it back home with rachet straps and some very helpful rover friends.

                                well
i moved it into the backyard today so i can start tearing it down to replace the bent rotten frame horns.
                                figure ive sobbed long enough.
