    2-1/4 petrol head indentification

Okay folks I'd appreciate your help. I believe I have an 8:1 head. From what I have read my block serial number should have been an 8:1 head from the factory. I have the raised dog opposite the carburetor, though I don't see an '8' or two '0's stamped there. What I see is part of an oval.

Here are a couple of pictures that even though they are not great, represent well what I see.

    Thanks for your help.

8:1 head, the raised bit it in the middle, between the carb and valve cover w/ the "8" stamped on there tells ya, your "part of an oval" is probaly part of an "8" stamped on a monday morning by a hung over worker
