    Need Advice: Tailgate Worth It?

    Hi!

Taking the top off the Series 3 this summer once I'm done with the first wave of galvanizing. Just got the opportunity to purchase a tailgate used for $200. Is it worth it?

Tailgates make for a very nice place to sit, or alternatively, a nice table for lunch.

I bought mine used for $100 and RN was selling new take off's for $100 last year. $200 seems awful high unless it is perfect.

I wouldn't worry about one unless you carry a ton of crap you are worried about falling out or a dog. Of course those girls from work might appreciate something to hold onto.

$200 is pretty steep for a tailgate. However, you'll need more than just the tailgate itself:
          - (2) hinges
          - (2) latch eyes
          - (2) limit chains
          - (2) brackets (for limit chains)
          - (2) chain pigtails
          - (2) antiluce catch pins
          - all bolts/hardware

Find out if any of this stuff is included in the price.

          Regards,

If it has all the hardware (chains and fastenings) and the frame is not cracked, sounds like a good deal.

Also, if it's a military tailgate with all the pioneer attachments still in place that stuff is worth good money.

Mine had about half of the pioneer parts and I got the shovel and axe too. But I paid extra for them.

I find that the tailgate makes it a bit tough to access stuff that is way deep in the back.

The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
