Trying to figure out factory color

Hey Im new to the forum so sorry if its a dumb question. I have a 63 series 2a im going to start a restoration on soon im hoping. its the marine blue color but im cant figure out if its original or not because the interior paint is light and the engine bay is also gray. The only reason It makes me wonder is All the rovers and pictures i have seen i have never seen one with a different colored interior paint. it has a safari top on it with gray seats and door panels also but im wondering if the whole rover was gray at one time because the paint on the dash and everywhere is gray..... SO was there every a marine blue 88" with gray engine bay and interior paint from the factory

While Marine Blue was a color used commonly on series trucks, it would have been sprayed on all panel, inside and out. Early, positive ground trucks would also have the instrument panel painted the same as the body color. My guess is that if the engine bay, and interior are gray, than the whole truck was originally gray.

      Hi
Try this web site, it's very good, you are able to see which year the colors were used:

Agreed, but it might also be Grey

That is what i was thinking I may have seen some gray under the blue where the paint is peeling but i was just thinking it was primer. ill have to get some pictures of my old barnacle showing the colors of the interior and exterior. i guess what threw me off was thinking maybe they painted the interior gray because they used that rino hyde seats and headliner and door panels so it was matching. is there any color codes on these trucks?

Mine is also grey. From what I can tell its mid grey. Theres also dark grey, and Ive always wondered how close the two shades are. Keep us posted.
            Have fun!

There where some can of paint in a box in my IIa when I got it-I'll check the codes on the cans and post. I've got marine blue, bronze green, pastel green and limestone.

                  Look here: http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/FAQ.S.ch...ering.244.html

If you can find your VIN listed here, it will tell what color it was when built. If your VIN is not listed, you can write Eric Pagan at LR to get the info.

I couldnt find my vin on the chart. My vin is 24407583A and i didnt see any on the chart that had a 5 in the 6th digit. only 0 and then it jumped to 7. I looked at the rovey today and it looks like the front wings were gray (or grey) under the blue. The tub however doesn't have any color under the blue just aluminum
