    Valve Adustment

Anybody have an easy way to do this; I used the starter crank on my 109 but the winch is in the way on my 88. I don't want to keep crawling under the truck.
    Thanks

Take the plugs out and turn the engine by pulling on the fan belt. That's how I did mine.

      use the hand crank

I know the winch is in the way. So I cut and welded about 5 inches to the length of my hand crank. Now it fits under the bumper and turns the crankshaft! The only drawback is that it is unsupported at the bumper end. I will figure something out that will work like bolting a u-bolt under the bumper or something. I used to be able to turn the crank by pulling on the fan belt on my petrol 88, but now I have a diesel.

Use the winch and mom's minivan (or a tree).

Plugs out, tranny in gear, beer cold, engine rotates. Problem solved.

i like this...put the bonnet all the way up, sit on the left wing facing in, set the winch control next to your beer and just winch an inch at a time towards the tree. make sure the tree's far enough away to allow you to go through all valves twice

              Hmmm....

              Just make sure......

Proper winching techniques require a 12" minimum clearance for all frosty beverages. Meaning that should your beer fall over, it should not make contact with your winch control.

What if you have a winch or a cabestan powered by the engine? Can you still do it sitting on the front fender? With a beer?

Would this be north or south of the equator?
