It works, dont like the fact that you cant really use the starting handle.

I like the lock on the winch cable.. I once read an article in a 4x4 magazine where someones jeep was ruined by trouble makers. They hooked the winch cable to th rear trailer hitch and powered the winch line in, causing the roof to partailly collapse. I guess they shorted the leads in the hand control plug.

        crank handle

I am hoping to keep the use of the crank handle. So easy to set the valves.

You can still do it with the setup i have, you just have to run it under the bumper. it works, but isnt the greatest.

Take out the spark plugs and its much easier. Just did mine today.

is that the mounting plate that our hosts sell? Been trying to figure out mounting options for my warn 9,000 as well. I like the look of that and, since my 2.5L engine doesnt have the starter dog for a hand crank, I'm not too worried about losing it.

This is my winch mount, it's home made and boltet to the chassis through the frontbumper mount, and welded to the front crossmember. It's strengthend behind the vertical front plate too.

The Winch is a cheap 12000 pounder, 24 volt, 6 BHP

              Underneath:

I can still use the starting handle, but it's not easy, but I have done it a few times.
