    Ex-MOD gauges, capillary or ?

    Good morning all.

Quick question about my gauges in my 1973 S3 109 ex-MOD 12V. Are my oil temp and water temp gauges capillary or ? I've never studied on it because they've always worked.

I'm going to have to fool with them soon. Just wanting to know what I'm getting into.

    Thanks.

According to the data vailable through my library, up to 1979 the feed was capilary after that the guages and feed are electric.

The oil temp gauge in my 64 was capilary but all the new gauges I've seem are electric. I have had good luck seeking MOD parts from PA Blanchard in England www.pablanchard.co.uk.

        Les,

Thanks for the information. I guess I should further clarify: these are the gauges in the normal gauge cluster next to the speedometer. They *don't* seem big enough to be capillary...I think.

I looked at that website Jim posted and saw what the "add on" gauges looked like. I was no referring to that one.

          Max,

My '65 IIa exMoD only had the fuel gauge and ammeter in the speedo cluster. There is an additional capillary oil-temp gauge, as specifie by the MoD. SIII's may be different though...

I added a dual oil-pressure/water-temp gauge on the same aux. panel, and just above the oil-temp gauge.

          Regards,

They are capillary. I just got a new one here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-mil...item53de7051d3 . Craddock also has them.

I second the P.A.Blanchard recomendation I've had great luck with them for MOD stuff. Another good on is L.R. Series, also located in the U.K. but they seem to have lots of MOD supplies.
