inop temp guage and oil pressure gauge 109 military

got a 109 military and the engine temp does not work and oil pressure is inop.
Any common failures for these?? is a smiths safety gauge the best route to go and just get new??

I prefer the LR triple gauge with fuel/oil temp/water temp and then just the charge and oil warning lights.

The oil and water temps are capillary gauges. Very clean and LR looking for a MOD truck.
