    Newb question about door latches

Sorry if this is a dumb question....on my IIa I have to hold up the handle to get the door to latch closed. Is this the way it is or is my latch out of adjustment? It does latch and stays latched until I pull the handle.

Looking at the the stiker it does appear that it should close without holding the handle up but it just bounces off if the handle is not held-and makes a terrible bang.

Sounds to me like your door is sagging, my rear door did the same until I adjusted the hinges. Try pulling up on the door as you shut it to see if that's the porblem.

Thanks-the lines match up well so maybe it's the catch that's a little off, good place to start.

        --update---

Now armed with the knowledge that the doors should require holding the latch to close, I looked at the strikers during lunch and sure enough they are a little off line to the latch, easy fix, back to normal.
