so after some more testing my speedo is deff off..
How easy is it to recalibrate.. is it as simple as swapping speedo gears?

    I have 16" wheels with 235 85r 16 tires...

I have searched and seem some threads about sending the speedo itself out to be redone.. is that the correct way to do it?

      2. I noticed my Speedo is about 10 MPH off at 30mph (drove by an officer who was nice enough to pull me over and tell me I was doing 40mph.. Much to his shock also I was on the wrong side of the vehicle.. No ticket and a good laugh)

      3. My interior lights and gauge cluster lights do not work.. tried playing around with the switch, no luck there.. but I admit.. I just looked to see if wires were connected.. didn’t want to mess around too much without direction.

      4. Last but not least.. like every other rover I have seen I will need to pay attention to the doors sooner or later.. What have people done as options? Defender replacements or rebuild originals..]
Issue 1 resolved... voltage stabilizer wasnt connected at all.. had to create a jumper wire since the color coded one wasnt present.

Issue 2 still an issue... got my GPS on my blackberry 30 MPH on the speedo = 38/40 MPH on the GPS.. tested GPS this AM with my daily driver..

Issue 3 resolved.. bought an extra headlight switch and followed the diagram in the green book.. there was a two prong switch there to begin with.. whatever I guess

Issue 4.... still an issue.. long term project.. possible patchwork as needed..

I finally have a decent running driving rover with all needed safety and engine gauges working.. More small projects to come and some prevention measures ...
I will get some pictures up tomorrow..

Thanks for the suggestions and help..

I once had to floor it on my way back to college because I spotted a state trooper up ahead and was puttering along at the minimum of 45 given the truck's condition. Pretty weird feeling, 'gunning it' like that given the circumstances. That was long before doing a valve job on the truck which made a big difference (and eliminated the few angry honks I had been getting too!)
