The pic was on my 79 Airportable, I believe it was part of the BAOR in the Gulf War in the early 1990's.

1st Gulf War
I fought along side these guys in the first Gulf War.I am honoured to call many mate to this day. ( even the blokes from Wales, sorry JJ) I was picked as liaison officer and general go between. They came as many Brits did to so many wars. With just enough to get by. With a little wheeling and dealing I got them outfitted nicely with all the 9 mm they could carry ( plus a few hand grenades.) It's amazing how much proper food is worth in the deep desert...no to mention the little beer that was to be had...... I had a Ltc that had a cadbury sweet tooth and a liking for proper mashed with REAL butter.... Squaddy tinned fruit coctail went well also... It's a shame I couldn't trade the mre's. Couldn't give the bloody things away...
Got an set of honorary corporal's stripes for my troubles ( HM's Royal Military Police)... I was hoping for a obe but alas it never came....Whence came you my brother ? From the East....Comment
