    45D4 with 25D guts ?

I just ordered a set of points/condenser for my 45D4 Lucas distributor but when the parts arrived they were the wrong set. They sent the correct points set for the 45D4 but the old set was from a 25D. So my distributor housing is a 45D4 ,new style cap/rotor but has internal backing plate and points/condenser from a 25D distributor. The series3 was running fine before I left the ignition on and melted my points. Could this be a hack job or is this combination factory?

My guess is it was done out of necessity (by a previous owner)- the factory installs a pre-assembled distributor as received from Lucas...

Can someone tell me if the points base plate I have is the correct one for a 45D4 Lucas distributor? I installed the 45D4 points/condensor and they seem to fit. Maybe the P.O. just installed 25D points/condenser by accident and they worked.
I think that is the way the condenser wire goes attached to the points spring.
