    12 Volt Accessory Outlet

I want to wire in a 12 volt outlet so I can run my GPS without constantly putting in new batteries. Since I want constant power to the GPS should I wire it directly to the battery? I'm planning on using 10ga wire with a 5 amp inline fuse. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Scott,
Did you tap in so that you took advantage of the fuse?
      Thanks,
      Jim

yep. there's the fuse that's hot only when the ignt is on and then there's the other one and i tap to it on the side opposite of the line coming in from the battery. this way you'll have power to toys when the engine's off. this is important cuz you will be broken down and you'll want your xm radio to work to help keep you from stressing out to the point...

a radio (to include xm type) is defined as the only thing on my seires that i can count on working more than 3 miles from my driveway. wait that also defines the tow bar

An XM radio is an expensive on board diagnostic system for your series.

It is turned on and the volume matched to be slightly more than your truck at operating speed. If you can suddenly hear the radio it means something has either stopped working or fallen off. If you suddenly can't hear the radio at all it means that something is wearing out fast and should be replaced.

Oh, it also has the convenience of being able to play tunes that you like whilst the volume is being matched.

                  Cheers
