Removing rear lift gate latch

I just received my rear lift gate today. I am about to begin to strip the paint in the next few days and need to remove the latch handle. Before I tear things up I wanted to make sure on how to remove the handle. Any pointers?

Not sure about yours but on mine; on the inside handle at the base you pull up the ring and there is a pin thru the handle and the square shaft running thru to the outside handle. Remove the pin and everything comes apart. Make sure you know how it is assembled prior to dis-assembly.
