I know this has come up before and, yes, I tried a search. NG. My tranny is whinning a bit and I'd like to know what gear oil/additives you all have used (Redline Shockproof, etc.), and what the results have been. Thanks and HooRah! for all the Vets.

I put a cap full of that powdered graphite in mine, in fact all the oily bits. Doesn't perform miracles, but it does help.

I've heard that graphite causes bearing and other wear in the tranny.
Who carries the Redline? Is it a chain auto store item? Thanks for the input. It's taken me 5 years to get to be a daily driver but a little less high pitched noise would be nice.Comment

Your right. That OilDag sounds like a grinding compound from the specs. I'm going to get rid of it right away. Besides, its a 1930's design of transmission, not a CV.
