sealing thermostat housing!!

OK, reinstalled T-Stat and the lower housing leaks!! Took it all back apart. Any hints on what to do to insure a leak free assembly. I have thoroughly cleaned the mating surfaces (sounds kinky). First time I assembled with new gaskets and very light coating of hylomar. Top sealed fine, bottom leaked pretty bad .

Sounds like something isn't lining up correctly. You sure the thermostat isn't falling down and getting in the seal when you are assembling it? I'm just guessing here.
