    clutch cylinder disassembly difficulties- cv

Feeling pleased with removal of clutch and brake hydraulics I began to disassemble the master cylinder- (cv type). It only took a few moments to get to the piston and discover it seems fused to the housing. The green Bible suggests low air pressure on the outlet side. But to me it looks like high pressure wouldn't even do the job.

My donor has a clutch cylinder that is likely more serviceable since it was on the road 3 years ago (vs the 28 that mine sat) , but it also may not be original- girling.

Thoughts on how to proceed, (getting the piston out or on the pros-cons of just taking it from the donor?)

Lastly, what should parts be cleaned in? Is girling cleaner available?
    thanks.

    thanks.

This is one of those areas where a new one is going to be more than just a time saver but a money saver since you won't have to throw good parts after bad.

I was thinking along those lines too, with replacements ranging in price from $25 for aftermarket to $90 for genuine, though I might still take a look at the cannibalized one first.

Of course, a lot of small $25s add up to a big $1500...
