    s2a clutch question

The clutch is not working on my s2a. The feel of the clutch pedal is abnormally soft.
    Reservoir is full.
    No leaks.
Removed fender and floor boards to inspect the MC and slave cylinder. Can't see any trace of fluid anywhere. The flex hose seems ok.

I am going to try to bleed the system but I was wondering if there was a known problem area in the hydraulic clutch system of these trucks.

    Thanks

Sounds very much like there's a piece of crud stuck in the valve at the end of the piston in the MC. It's just bypassing, allowing fluid to go back and forth between both sides. Generally the hydraulic system on these trucks is pretty reliable.

      Thanks TerryS,

I replaced the MC, bled the system at the slave and I wanted your input about the amount of displacement of the rod at the slave, if you can see enough in the video...(not an easy spot):

Also found that there is play at the Housing [picture1] of the operating lever (item#9 from RN diagram[picture2]). When the rod from the slave comes down the operating lever goes down quite a bit before rotating. Seems to me like the play is excessive:

      Thanks for your input.

Your bushings on the cross shaft are definitely toast. There is not a lot of movement normally in the slave so with that much movement in the bushing the slave is probably not activating. Shove a screwdriver into the bushing and tighten it up and then see if your clutch works.

        Cheers John

Just did the "screwdriver" trick and sure enough the clutch is working fine.

Just ordered the parts from RN. Should be there by Friday.

          Thank you.

            Update.

Replaced the bushing (the old bushing was pretty worn out), bushing housings on the cross shaft and adjusted the slave rod.

            Problem fixed.

            Thanks for your inputs
