    tailgates?

I have two tailgates, one bought used and one that came with the bugeye. Both original tailgates I believe? Limestone one is the used one which is mostly aluminum with galv top piece and rub strips. One on Bugeye gate which was told by PO I quote "genuine gate" made it a point to tell me that. This gate has a steel interior which rolls over as top piece. Much heavier gate. Did Land Rover change the gate style at some time / model year. Curiosity mostly.

The one with the rub strips is an earlier part. The one with the solid inner and top is a later style part.

        Bob -

There is also a model that has the galvy trim cap that wraps around the top edge and completely overs the interior surface. I think Ike / Pangolin had one like that.

I have one of each too, as said the older has the galvy bits on the interior (mine looks like the original poster's). I think the inner galvy rails is a nicer way of protecting things than the stamped on the newer, though is a bit of a snag issue. Currently the new one is on my truck, not sure why.

Is there any chance you'd part with the older one then?
              I could overlook some snags...

Eh not really interested in selling at this point. RN probably has used ones for sale if you are in need.

Thanks for responding. I just checked our host's website for used tailgates and didn't find any. Also, when I called them previously, the new (Proline) ones were on backorder.

Just thought I'd inquire in this tailgate thread...

I would trade my newer one for a good back door. Its in great shape so the back door would need to be very good also

                          tailgate

It is my understanding that the heavier duty tailgate is the military version.

                            Glavy tailgate

This is the full treatment tailgate I was speaking of earlier.

The galvy cap covers the while tailgate.
