That reminds me of my first trip up the Dempster Highway north of Dawson that goes to Inuvik, Northwest territories...LOTS of sections of cordoroy....but they actually keep it quite well maintained, so the pot-holes aren't all that bad...just lots of windshield cracking rocks when getting passed.
That's got to be the Australian outback.

They do that over in the UK, I hear; instead of fixing the potholes, let's put up a sign warning of them. A way of institutionalizing the potholes.
I saw a sign once over there on a bridge that said something like, "Bridge weakened in spots". Really? Perhaps it would be better to actually fix the bridge, then put a sign up warning about it's problems.

There's a village near my cousin's called Leaving. When you drive in you get the impression its a pretty small village, as the sign says
"Entering Leaving". I never looked to see if the other side of the sign said 'Leaving Leaving'
