    1958 series II pickup

I have the chance to pick up a pickup. the price is too good to past so I will probably be getting it. I would rather have a hardtop or a 5 door safari top. So if anyone has a top for sale or a SW that they want to get rid of I would love to trade the pickup. I would prefer a 109 but the right 88 would be ok. In an 88 a soft top would be good. I guess if all else fails does anyone have a hoop set for a 109? I will post pictures after I get the truck home.

    ????

Slow down Chuck! You sound excited, Are you saying that you are getting a 109 pick up and are looking for a full length top? Or to swap a 109 pick up for an 88 with a full top? Or you are getting an 88 pick up and just want to swap tops?
Tell us more about what you are getting, petrol/diesel, year, LHD/RHD.

IT is a 1958 series II 109 pick up. I would prefer a 109 hard top, so either i need to find a hardtop and sides for sale or just wait to find a hard top already complete. The truck was only $500.00 so I bought it. LHD 2.25 gas, good frame for its age, a good project truck. I have a line on a top and side just have to go look at them, the guy has a 200 TDI on an engine stand as well. Just a quick question can a 200 bolt inot a series II? If not will a 2.5 NA diesel bolt in I really want a diesel motor.

        Chuck,

Both the 200tda and the 2.5na will bolt in without modifing the engine mounts. The main problem is which vehicle it came out of. The Defender has the turbo sit higher than the Disco model so it(Defender) fits great. The Disco one fouls the wing/steering.
If you get the Disco one you can take the turbo off and run it like that, still get 84hp vs 62hp on the 2.25.

The 200 is out of a defender. Is the Series trany and transfere case strong enough for the 200 or should I go with the 2.5 NA?

I'm thinking about the same swap. So far the research that I've done confirms with that the 200 will fit with a little work.. I think this months land rover monthly has a swap overview.
