Well not as clear cut as I would have liked...
Seems when people swapped over from paper files to computers some info was lost...

I am going with Massai red and a limestone top...
I just couldn't get a good match to what I have vrs what I have seen...

And as for the matte finish...
I asked several different people and get several different answers..
I am just going with a traditional, possibly a tad less glossy clear..

I am going to have a few of the old panels painted as well and test out a wet sand technique one of the shops suggested that would give the same effect with more UVrotection..

Not 100% all back together... infact very little put back together..
        but here it is..

Aside from dirt, age, sun etc..
I think once all the bits are bolted back on it will break up the fields of color..
Monday hopefully, have to put some time in this weekend..

Out of curiosity, if you don't mind me asking, approximately how much did that paint job cost you? It looks great and I am planning to have my 109 painted this summer and am trying to establish a reasonable price range? I have gotten quotes from local shops in the $10-$15K range but those shops all admit they tend to focus on insurance claims for newer model vehicles and I simply can't afford a paint job at that price.

Secondly, did you, or does anyone for that matter, even get the interiors painted at the same time when having the exterior painted?

Thank you in advance for possibly sharing any info.

Looks awesome! Makes me consider red for mine as well...darn it! Stop posting photos, I need to stick to a color!

$10-$15k seems ridiculously high to me, but I'm no expert. I had an accident in my BMW less than 2 years ago, which required a new hood, fender, bumper, radiator and front end paint and all that was less than $10k at a high end shop that mainly does insurance claims.

a friend of mine runs a shop and he recently painted my bulkhead, rad support, vents, and the front panel that sits below and in front of the radiator support. The bill came to $840. I suspect to have the hood, fenders (bonnet, wings), and tub done would be another $1500 to $2000 for a good paint job.

I think there are a thread or two in here of people on this forum who have set up small temporary paint booths and did it themselves. Are you in the interior of Alaska or is it just your Rover that is?

Many times you can keep an eye out for cheaper used equipment, then you can always choose to re-sell the equipment to recoup some of your cash.

A friend of mine has a business building custom choppers and taught himself to paint. I've watched him do it plenty of times and its not too hard...just have to get the technique down. He doesn't have a paint both or anything fancy...he puts up some plastic sheeting and wets the floor (keeps dust down), and his paint looks awesome. Thankfully he is painting my rig free of labor, just the price of materials. he used to work on airplanes (electrical not paint) and said its all in the prep. Make sure the surface is clean and you use a good epoxy primer.

took my time and only made a few "boo boos" really not noticeable unless you are scrutinizing it, and if thats the case there is way more to comment on!!

but they are going on along with new flip and fold entry steps..
