By 'clamshell' do you mean S3/ Defender type Hinges?
Only hinges I can think of that attach to the top are the rear door hinges, and they are the same as S2, and not 'clamshell'. -
I think he means the hinges that are on top for a 'liftgate' that goes along with a tailgate on a hardtop1958 107 SW - Sold to a better home
