Owning a Series Land Rover means...

Standing up to do a presentation at work wearing a crisp white shirt, conservative tie and pinstripe suit and realizing halfway through your talk that you've got a rotor, two hose clamps and wad of electrical tape in your pocket.

Nice...! for me it's usually noticing a bit late a distinct grease stain on pants or sleeve...

reassuring to know I'm not alone there.

I am currently working on a leak free Defender! the tranny-gearbox-rear main seal is happening next week. The new door skins will be in at the end of June. I am starting to be discouraged.

My 90 has no power steering so I am gonna say owning a Land Rover means...

Having to explain to Range Rover owners that it is not a Toyota and to everyone else that Land Rover is made by land Rover and is British, not Japanese.

The other common things do not apply to my truck. It has power steering, a small block V8, disc brakes, Defender door seals with Defender anti burst latches and heated Defender seats.

Trying to explain what no power assist of anything means.

Also asking where they think their truck will be in another 50 years?

For me means crawling under it or at least opening the hood every trip over 10 minutes to check out a new noise, vibration or to ensure its all still there...

seeing this bumper sticker on a fellow rover owners 88 "the parts falling off of this vehicle are of the finest british manufacture" one reviewer descibes the steering as "agricultural", but I cannot think of any other vehicle that will make you friends. like the folks on this forum...
