    manual steering

I have seen a lot about converting to power steering using scout or range rover steering gear;however, are there any ideas for manual steering.I am planning an engine swap and would have to relocate the steering but prefer a manual set up.

      1. wanting to keep simple & keep cost down.
      2. placement difficulty which require mare fabricating

sounds like you are going to have to rework it anyway . . . I dont thnk you will save any effort by making a new manual steering setup over fabing a PS setup. If you are handy and resourceful you can find the PS bits inexpensively. PS makes a huge difference offroad and really adds very little complexity. Its also stronger than the stock box so you may actually gain some reliability as well. . .

I think one less system that could leak would be an advantage. (oh wait, that doesn't count if he puts a GM system in there)
