Burbling sound out of oil filler tube

At idle I can hear a distinct burbling sound out of the oil filler tub on my 2.6, I don't recall ever hearing this before but I've never had it running at idle as low as it is now, which is much quieter. The filler tube flows directly into the exhaust valve tappets cover, not sure if it is just the sound of the oil splashing around in there. I feel like I would have heard this sound even with it a bit louder, I realized today where it was coming from. Oil pressure is good.

    Bump

I'm interested as well. My 2.25 Petrol started doing this before I took it apart.

I filled the oil to the max line on the dipstick and it is quieter. I at least can't hear it from the cab at idle. I need to check on it further just ran out of time.

You might want to pull the valve cover and check for "gunk" around the oil return holes. What you could be hearing is oil "gurgling" at the holes. I've seen this in other brands.
