Ford 302 conversion

I'm going to look at a IIA that's had a Ford 302 installed. Is this something I should stay away from? If not, anything specific I should look for?

Look at what transmission it's attached to and what other drive line upgrades it has. Take a look at the quality of the fabrication of the motor and transmission mounts. Look for bulkhead modifications and radiator panel mods. How is the wiring? neatly done or just "there"? I'd be leary of a conversion but if done well then it could be a good thing.
Personally, unless I knew who did it, I'd just get a stockish truck and modify it myself. Atleast then I'd know which idiot did it!
