    Re-Jetting a Weber carb

I may be taking the 88" out to Cody Wy from the east coast lowlands by the Chesapeake bay. Currently been running at sea level. Cody is at 5000 ft with mountain passes and trails around there going up to 8000 or 9000 feet. Beartooth pass is an hour away and is 11000ft.

Anyone have any tips or experience on re jetting the single barrel webers? Looking for any helpful suggestions on how to do it and what jets to use.

    Thanks

I was using a 155 main jet in my 34ICH. It was the correct jet for 5000 to 6000 ft. The truck would still run at 13,000 ft, but pretty rich.

The jets are easy to change, only takes a few minutes. You should also advance your timing just a bit at the same time.

      I'll second what meatblanket said.

I am at 9000 feet, and travel generally around 8-9000 but sometimes 6000 ft. I run a 155 in my Weber 34ICH and advanced the timing a hair. Runs well, plugs are a nice color so I think it is right. And, takes 5 minutes to swap the jet out! Oh, I did increase the air correction jet (sorry, forget to what size).

      Cheers,
      Julian

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I needed to know. I'll have to research the air correction jet a bit more. The truck is most likely going to end up in Cody permanently most driving will be local around 5000ft with day trips up a bit higher. 155 main jet and a timing bump sounds like the ticket, with a possible air correction jet swap as well. I need to dig out my old assembly drawings on the 34 ICH

If you want them locally look for a shop that handles VW's. I went to an off-road shop out in El Cajon/Lakeside when I was in San Diego. They carry them because so many sand rails use webber carbs.
