    State fees..

I would like to start this thread for posting fees charged to us for our Landys.
I attempted to get info as to how NH does it's reg fees. It seems as if I am being charged way too much.
For a 1973 , the state says the retail cost was $4600. As my dad's '73 corvette was around $5000 I find it odd that my Rover was about the same.
Please list your specs here as well as your state. I know states differ but they should all be around the same.

NH 1973 Land Rover series 3 88" gross weight 3350.
    State fee $ 46 Town $18.50
    Thanks for the help
    Kris
I'm just sick of being scrod by the state, and these fees seem fishy....

in florida you put how much you paid for it and they tax it by 7% i told them i paid $500 for my project rover so i paid $35 taxes plus $20 title fee, i had a tag off my old 76 ford i transferred so my sticker for my antique tag is $35 a year, and thats basically all i have to do

In Massachusetts they use the NADA website, not how much you paid for it. I paid $4000 for my rover Andie, the registry didn't charge me the tax on that instead they looked on NADA and said my rover was worth between $10600 and $38500, so they're trying to charge me the tax on the low end figure. Not fair! I even have a sales receipt from the PO.

      1965 series 2a
      109" pick-up
      State sales tax $800
      Title fee: $50
      Registration fee: $125

        NH antique plates
        1973 109
        List price new: $4400
        State fees: $6
        Municipal fees: $21

        Total: $27

Get antique plates. The only 2 drawbacks: You need to go to Concord to process/pick up antique plates and ALL antique vehicles are inspected in April, regardless of owner's birth month/registration month. There are no usage restrictions on vehicles with antique plates.

Note that the "we're going broke" state surcharge of $30 wasn't charged by the state in my case. I don't know if they waive this fee for antiques or not, but I didn't pay it.

In Massachusetts, antique plates have a mileage restriction on them, and I want to use mine as a daily driver.

Registration fee - $38.00 (includes a $3 fee so that I can do it over the net)
                Excise Tax - $18.20
                State Inspec. - $12.00
                Total for year - $68.20
I had antique plates when I first got it but the mileage restriction I went to regular plates once I was sure it would pass inspection.

In NY there are two tiers. When you first register the truck, they charge sales tax on top on the registration fee. This is good for two years. After that, they charge by GVW. So they have my series 2a at 2950 pounds. I am not sure about antique plates. My insurance company places milage limits if I was classic car insurance. I also am exempt from pollution inspection, I only need the safety items inspected.

                          Virginia.

$50 Antique registration first time registering.
5% sale tax on purchase price at registration.
                          Yearly tax is $18.
                          No yearly resgitration fees.
                          No inspection.
                          No emmissions.
It is supposed to be driven only for parades and club events, but that is never enforced and many people in my rural area drive antique tagged vehicles way more often. I use mine to go to the dump, to work every couple of weeks and the hardware store. I don't think I would risk daily driving on the antique tags but you can do way more than the law says and no one cares. The local cop waves at me in town.
