Series 1 Headlight Trim

Hi,

I've been prepping for painting - lots of sanding. The PO painted just about everything including the galvanized trim and the ring around headlight (is that the bezel)? I figured it was chrome so used a number of coats of oven cleaner to remove the paint. Instead of chrome it looks bronze (or brass?)- it actually shines up quite well. Am I seeing things?

Mine are chrome (1951). What year is yours?

You are both right - they are typically chromed brass

I've been taking a pretty gentle approach in removing the old paint so I'm guessing the PO stripped them previously as there is no sign of chrome. I think I'm going to leave them brass for the time being...And mine is a 1955
