    CDN M101 trailer

We just picked up a M101 trailer to carry our camping gear behind our '68 LR ambulance/camper this summer. A couple of questions. Anyone know if there are trailer hubs available that match the LR wheel stud spacing? Might weld on the ends of a spare rear axle i have kicking around. Or perhaps someone knows of a source for a spare tire for the trailer? I think it has Iltis wheels. Thanks Jim

I thought M101s were interchangeable with M416s- if that was the case the wheels would be 5 on 5 1/2 pattern and you should e able to get spare wheels from the trailer from any number of sources- that was one of the most popular wheel patterns for years. I never really looked into it because my trailer came with something crazy like 6 spares.

You might want to check here:
I figured since I was building this sucka I should have a cohesive thread to follow the progress. I will recap a couple of things..... To this point, I had wired new lights, installed a "3rd" wheel and added 2.5" spacers from wheeladapter.com to be able to run 100 series wheels on the...

Hi Everyone I'm in the process of getting a M416 trailer and one of the things I plan on doing is to change the wheel lug pattern to match my 4Runner. So, what is the easiest way to do this? What is the cheapest way to do this? And the most important, what is the BEST way to do this...

I picked this bad boy up over the winter and it is time to do some mods to it. I am looking for some advice on the axle. I am planing to swap in a complete axle with a LC bolt patern and SOA at the same time. My idea was to use a 3" tube with land cruiser spindles/hubs welded to each...

that guy got adapters made IIRC. I remember I looked into getting adapters made so I could use Land Rover wheels and it was possible, I can't remember who made them though.

Search through this forum and you'll find a lot of info:
So i got a steal of a deal on a 101 tonight on craigslist....$600 CDN for a trailer in very good shape, Stoked at the minute, can't wait to do some personal touches to it, Coming soon:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Here's a link to the pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/gavman/sets/

If you want a Sankey contact Howard Smith- they aren't cheap though.

Otherwise search for M416, "army trailer", M101, etc on eBay see this link too:

              Ambulance

It was all OD with red crosses when we got it, but I got tired of confusing little old ladies that insisited in stopping for it. We did the disruptive pattern.

I have a picture or two of Jim's interior but since it's his truck, I'm not going to post them.

Jim's truck is flat out the most comfortable looking camping rover I've ever seen. I love the thing!

Imagine crawling into the back after a long days travel and being able to stretch your arms and legs out as far as you can in the bed and only possibly bump the fridge.

The old ambys are the way to travel in style my friends. Give me an internet conection and a toilet in that thing and I'd be off the grid for a year or two.

                  Good work Jim!

I got Jim's blessing so here are the two pictures I can find on his interior. Sorry these are only of the cab. I can't find any of the back of his truck...

                      Jim-

did you make a doorway from the cab to the back? That is something I've been thinking of doing.

                        camper

I took out the window and cut down the bulkhead beneath it enough to be able to crawl through. Might cut away a bit more, but it is nice to be able to prop up one's pillows agasint it. We use a Caranex tent to, works out pretty well.

I haven't given much thought to the camper conversion of mine. I was going to convert back to a 109GS but the more I think about it the GS isn't that useful to me and the fairly unique nature of the ambulance body would be very cool as a camper. If you can post some pics of the interior I'd love to see them.
