    Just Got My First!

Today my first LR came! It's a 1970 Station Wagon with the 6cyl engine. Other than a brush guard I believe it's all stock... It has a Calif Vin that was assigned 12 years ago since the data plate couldn't be located so I have no real serial number for reference. Can anyone tell me where else there might be a serial number stamped or other numbers that will be helpful in my refurbishment? I also need a mechanic in the Southern Calif area if there is someone trusted.... Originally cream or white, now painted black including the safari roof .... Thanks!!

Welcome, and be sure to post some pictures of your Rover.
If the chassis is original, there should be a VIN stamped on the chassis just above the forward front spring mount on the RH side.

Congrats on your new rover. I'm in the LA Area, but I haven't had to use any mechanics yet. I do know several people, some on this forum that might.

                    Congrats! Nice looking landy.

What area are you in? I have direct experience with Pete from Huntington Service Center in San Marino, Peter from Marina Motors in Venice and Bill over at Bonnets to Boots in Encino. There are also a few spots around Orange County as well... These guys are all very knowledgeable and each has over 30 years of landy specific experience. However they charge $100-120/HR for labor, so I only use them as a last resort when I am totally stumped and have exhausted all of my resources and knowledge.

If you need more specific info, just let me know!
