    Rubber seal Vent dash

    rubber seal vent dash.......

I replaced one this weekend, actually there was none to begin with; so I had nothing to look at as a model.

Does this seal go on the outside of truck? MY vent hardly closes now.
It worked much better with sticky foam tape.

Everything I have ever heard from anyone is that these vents take a while to 'set' and that it is best if you replace it and then keep the vent as closed as you can for as long as you can.

One time when my 109 had just been restored I had been told to not open my vents for as long as I could. My Dad got in and grabbed the vent controls and said, "This is pretty neat!" as he opened them up before I could say anything. I don't think I ever got that seal back in the exact spot it was . . .

From what I have read, keep the vents closed for a month or so after installing new seals. Mine looked like they were sticking out, but the vent covers are slowly looking like what I would expect them to look like.

Another tip is to push the vent closed while somebody latches it on the inside and keep it there till it beds in (days, weeks, months, whatever...).
