Distributor question...

On mine, the vac advance is towards the rear of the engine, and when I give throttle ( by hand with the light) the timing mark moves towards TDC. But only so far, meaning it will not pass it. I have a 69 LHD 2.25 engine. Hope this helps.

For the one who have a distributor that the vacuum is opposed to mine what does the point when you apply vacuum? Go clockwise or counterclockwise?

When I start applying throttle, about 1/3 of the way open, she starts to advance towards to the tdc. I have the three pointer on the case. The mark on the pulley moves towards that, not away from it. I have been messing with my timing as well. I set my timing light to 8 degrees. Started the truck, moved the dizzy until the pulley mark lines up with the tdc mark on the case. The vac advance will only apply under light loads and not wot ( so I understand). Is it possible, and I doubt it, that the dizzy is installed the wrong way? Does the truck run normal otherwise?

That unfortunately is a distributor used in a poor attempt at meeting the emission requirements of the day. If the rest of the plumbing is missing time for you to get a regular one.
